The Auckland car scene seems to be slowing down in recent years. The continued rise of the JDM tax and the government’s mandate to import only eco-friendly cars appears to be limiting the options for new enthusiasts. And those who were already in the scene most of them have already moved on and decided to take the next phase of their life. But there are still a few who are still active and staying true to the game, one of them is Jepoy Delos Reyes. Unless you are living under the rock likely you are already familiar with him and his Instagram-famous EK9 TypeR which we’ve already featured on this page before.

Raising a family is not an excuse to kill your passion, this is something Jepoy just demonstrated as he continues to be one of the top purveyors of finest builds here in Auckland. In fact, having his family is his reason to step up his game and switch to a bigger platform with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR. This Evo started its life as someone else’s pride and joy but staying true to his craft, Jepoy refined it, added his personal touches, and made it his own(JepoySpec).

Keeping it clean is the name of the game, very subtle changes has been made to the exterior to keep the original timeless design. Under the hood you will see an uprated Garett G25 turbo with HKS intake. All exhaust goes out to full Tomei system. reinforcement has been added to the body with Cusco braces and suspension.

Maybe the car scene is getting smaller but if it means we will see more clean builds like this, I will take quality over quantity at any given day.
